Week #7: February 13th - February 20th.
The seventh week of the internship has taken place in D2L. During this week, I have been assigned to provide feedback to all of the participants in this course about their E-Portfolio. I have enjoyed reviewing their work and having the opportunity to provide them with meaningful and purposeful feedback not only based on the rubric that they have to use, but also based on my journey as an online student throughout this certification program. I was able to create several screencasts and audio files that I used to share my feedback. In addition to this task, I was also asked to create a screencast with Tips for the E-Portfolio. I pinned this video in the discussion board for this week. I really have enjoyed creating these videos and audio recordings. I feel that it is important to be able to reach the students with these type of artifacts. Feedback and reflection are crucial in the learning process of any learner. Finally, I was also asked to utilize the gradebook in D2L in order to assess the participants E-Portfolios.

Week #6: February 5th - February 12th.
The sixth week of the internship has taken place in D2L. During this week, I have been assigned to provide feedback about the online magazines the students created using Scoop.it. I have enjoyed reviewing their work and having the opportunity to help them to continue to grow not only as online students, but also as prospective online instructors. In addition to this task, I was also the facilitator/moderator of the online discussion board for this week.
Discussion Topic: Game Changing Technology

Week #5: January 30th - February 4th.
The fifth week of the internship has taken place in D2L. During this week I have been able to connect with the students enrolled in this course by providing feedback about their closed caption video that they have created. I was able to share my feedback with them using the discussion board. This week, I was assigned to provide feedback to all of the post that were posted in the discussion board by each student. As I was providing feedback to the students, I was able to self-reflect about the importance of meaningful and purposeful feedback. Feedback is an important part of the learning process.

Week #4: January 23rd - 29th.
The fourth week of the internship has taken place in Moodle. During this week I have been able to connect with the students enrolled in this course by providing feedback about the online assessments that they have created. I was able to share my feedback using the discussion board in Moodle. This week, I was assigned to provide feedback to all of the online assessments that each student created. It was interesting to see how some of these assessments integrated some videos and links to other articles. As I was providing feedback to the students, I was able to self-reflect about the different assessments that I have created for the online and the blended learning courses that I have taught and how can I continue to improve in creating these assessments.

Week #3: January 16th - 22nd.
The third week of the internship has been interesting and busy. During this week the course moved to Moodle. I have used Moodle before as a students and also as an instructor. As an intern, this week, I had to participate as a student in all of the different discussions that were created by the students. The discussions were informative and helpful. I also had the opportunity to provide written feedback to five students about their prompt, questions and how they managed the different discussions since they were role-playing as instructors.

Week #2: January 9th - 15th.
The second week of the internship has been busy. During this week I had to create a Who We Are & Where We Are from reference sheet for the class. This reference sheet was posted in the "News" announcement section in D2L. I thought that this document was helpful not only to me as an online instructor, but also for the students. The information in this document provides a quick background information to all of the members of the learning community.

I also had the opportunity to create a summary post for one of the discussion boards that took place throughout the week. The topic of the discussion board was about Netiquette rules in online learning. This was a great opportunity for the learning community not only to learn about the importance of Netiquette, but also how it should be modeled. As online instructors, we have to provide the best learning environment for the entire learning community. Therefore, we need to guide and provide learning opportunities to all members of the learning community in how to interact and to learn in the online learning community.
As many of you have pointed out, netiquette ground rules are common sense rules that can be applied to any online setting. Below is a list of ground rules you have come up with in your discussions. Can you think of another ground rule that would apply to any online setting or a setting like ours?
Be respectful. This is especially important in writing in response to peers. Using jokes, slang, and off-color remarks can be offensive and disruptive to the community.
~Roxanne
A good guideline is to say something kind and supportive first, then start with open-ended questions or whatever response techniques we are using.
~Mona
It is important for students to feel comfortable in the environment that they are becoming a part of.
~Heidi
A netiquette rule that may help could be setting up multiple blocks of time to get work done, meaning having a discussion have a first posting due date, then a follow up due date and then a conclusion due date.
~Angela
Think before you hit send; you can type your response to a person, maybe even on a word document, but then sit, wait, re-read, and make sure what you are saying is really what you want to say before you post it for everyone to see.
~Brandon
Quality rather than quantity in discussion boards. I think it is important to get your point across, but remember that other people have opinions and want to be heard as well. In order to remain an inclusive community, we need to value others' opinions and ideas as much as our own.
~Dayna
A netiquette ground rule I could see being implemented would be to fully explain where you are coming from with an idea derived from real life experiences.
~Cory
Be open minded as I read other postings. While I have always tried to do that, my experience of this week really makes me realize just how important that is.
~Louise
This individualism is often ignored by the mainstream culture theorists and the big businesses that train humans on how to deal with other humans in our hyper connected and diverse world.

Finally, I also have had the opportunity to continue to develop my coaching skills while providing feedback to the students. I am currently tracking the participation of each student in each discussion board. I have been able to use the data from the learning management system in order to measure the participation and of each member during the week. In addition, I have also provided feedback to three different students in regards to their posts and their participation in this week's discussions boards. It is time to get ready for week #3!
Week #1: January 1st - 8th.
The first week of the internship has started off well. During this week I have been able to connect with my mentor teacher and also I have been able to welcome the students enrolled in this course. It has been great to have had the opportunity to work in the learning management system (D2L) as an instructor. I also have enjoyed participating in the discussion board assigned for this week as an intern. My role in the discussion board has slightly change. I am acting more as a facilitator rather than as an active participant. This is an interesting role since I found myself guiding the students and the discussion to a deeper level. At the beginning of the week I had the opportunity to share my background information with the class. I also had the opportunity to start tracking the performance and participation of the students. In addition, my mentor and I have in constant communication not only before the course started, but also throughout this first week.
This first week was busy, but it was exciting. I look forward to continue growing as on online instructor in the weeks to come.
